Mini Soccer Tournament a Summer Success!

Introduction: Let the games begin!

Delaford Colts FC had the pleasure of hosting their Annual Mini Soccer Tournament over the weekend of 9th-10th June, which saw 80 teams from across West London and the Home Counties participating.

The age groups ranged from Under 7 to Under 14 teams who all participated in a group stage with the top two placed teams in each group advancing into the knockout stages of the Cup competition, and the 3rd and 4th placed teams progressing into the Trophy competition. The introduction of an Under 6 friendly festival added an extra element from previous years with ten teams playing a round robin set of fixtures which they enjoyed immesnsley.

Meet the Team

Hosting such a big event is one thing but making it a success and enjoyable for all is another. Delaford Colts FC would like to sincerely thank all of our volunteer helpers who contributed to organising and delivering our 2018 event......you know who you are! We could not have done it without you so your help is appreciated and Well Done!

The Club Secretary, Nina Haase, said “On behalf of the committee, coaches, players and parents, I would like to thank our Club sponsor Relay Technical Transport for their continued unwavering support and also to our tournament sponsors whose generosity has helped us to build on the success of last year’s event. A special mention also goes to Oakwood Estates for producing our fantastic event signage used for the pitches and around the site plan”.

Look who came to Visit?!

Topping a fantastic event was the special guest appearance of the actual FA Cup Trophy on Sunday. Players and teams made the most of the opportunity to get some precious photographs with the Cup before it returned to its rightful home at Wembley Stadium. Delaford Colts FC would like to thank LG and their partners at The FA for helping to add a special and most memorable moment to our 2018 tournament. The magic of the FA Cup is well and truly still alive!

Tournament Winners

The sun made a welcome appearance for the event which made for difficult conditions with players having to cope in the hot temperatures. Whilst our Under 6 participants battled it out in a friendly festival, the Under 7 to Under 14 teams had to play a minimum of six games in order to reach the competition finals. Fantastic determination, competitive spirit and team work were the theme of the weekend.

A huge congratulations to all of our Cup and Trophy finalists. Our 2018 Cup and Trophy winners put in consistently high performances to come out on top amongst tough competition and lift the Silverware to the backdrop of the Champions League theme tune. What a great atmosphere at The Rec.......even the Club Mascot Trotter came out to celebrate!

Best of the rest!

Club Chairman, Keith Mounteney, summed up a superb weekend, “It's been a fantastic year for the club and this year’s tournament was the perfect end to the 2017/18 season. I would like to thank all the participating teams for making this a hugely enjoyable event and we look forward to hosting you again in 2019!”
